Funny Little Craigslist story

A while back I was looking for some chairs to stage a house we had for sale. I saw this fab set on CL and emailed the poster to see if I could buy them. Showed the hubby, but he hated them. Same old, I love it he hates it. Whatever. So here I am salivating over these chairs and table and china cupboard. Convince the hubby that with a little paint and some fabric , these chairs are exactly what we need. Being a sensible sort, he agreed. Put my walnut shield back chairs up for sale. Talked them up a bit and sure enough, off they went to their new home. That's' another story. Later.....
The lady selling the dining set emails and tells me that she has just sold the set to a "lady". She then tells me that since it was in the neighborhood and she has a van, she agreed to bring the set over to the "couple". She arrives and is waiting outside the apartment building and out comes this big back drag queen! All blond hair, red hot mini skirt, white go go boots and tube top. She says the lady comes up to her and says"Honey! Are you the lady with the dining room suite?" She says yes. She was so taken aback by this gal as she had never seen a real big black he/she in full makeup and wig.The buyer pulls the money out of her tube top and pays for the furniture. Next, out comes the lover. All in a fluster over the furniture. Also, in a big rush as they had a double date with another couple. She says this gal just picked up the dining room table like a feather, the lover grabbed the chairs , 2 per arm and off they went. She said not 5 minutes later down they came with another little friend. She says it was all she could do to keep from laughing out loud. This little scrawny guy/gal, with 2 days stubble and a badly fitting blouse, comes over and says with a sweet little lisp "I will take the other chairs". Stacks the chairs seat to seat and barely manages to carry them into the building. Meanwhile , the other 2 'ladies' pick up the china cupboard and carry it towards the building doors. When they reached the doors, they put the cupboard down, the blond runs over to the seller , gives her a big hug, grabs her husbands hand and shakes it all the way up his arm, turns back to the lover who , with a big smile on his face yells, Thank You Honey, and the 2 of them disappear into the building with the cabinet. She said she just stood there dumbfounded for a minute and then once they were gone, both she and her husband started to laugh so hard she found it hard to breathe. Ah, life in the big city. A story around every corner.

my little craigslist life continues

Well, today was another great day. My granite guy, Lenny Whitehouse, came all the way up to our place here in northland and installed the marble counter in our kitchen and marble vanity in our powder room. I am so happy , it is finally coming together. Now Lenny is a true professional. He gets it right or keeps at it until it is. Nice in this day and age where so many people just do a crap job and think you should be happy because they showed up. He brought his lovely partner Michelle with him. She is such a special lady and so funny. We hit it off and spend our time laughing and sipping a little wine. I love to cook and they love to come for dinner. Tonight I made cod fish, lima beans, cabbage rolls, cheddar biscuits, cornmeal muffins with fresh corn kernels and pepper flakes. These were yummy. For desert we had chocolate pecan brownies . These went really well with the red wine . The whole mean was tasty and aside from the cabbage rolls which I made some for freezing, the food just vanished before our very eyes. Funny how basic food tastes so much better with a few friends to share it with. I guess I should thank craigslist for these new friends. Just another great craigslist connection.

my little craigslist life

Well, here we go again. Totally in love with this table I saw on Craigslist, Toronto. This is wonderful as I just love the 2 hours each way drive to Toronto from small town Ontario where we live. Fantastic table for just $50? Oh Yeah! Can't beat that. Absolutely perfect for my family room and matches perfectly with the other table I got from family. I know some of you might say that $50 is way too much to pay for a table. I know, I used to think so too. Then, I factored in the adventure and the prospect of meeting new people, going to parts of the city I have never been to before, seeing peoples homes , meeting their kids (sometimes) and usually, getting fantastic furniture for our place. All for $50! You can't beat that. Better than dinner and a movie, for sure. Stay tuned for more adventures and a few good memories all courtesy of my little craigslist life.
